Lead aVR-The neglected lead
Created by
Overview
Description
Lead aVR, often overlooked, provides crucial diagnostic insights in ECG interpretation. Positioned to view the right upper side of the heart, it detects abnormalities like left main coronary artery occlusion, proximal LAD lesions, and global subendocardial ischemia. ST elevation in aVR with widespread ST depression elsewhere may indicate high-risk coronary disease. It also aids in identifying ventricular tachycardia, toxicity, and misplaced leads. Recognizing the significance of aVR enhances diagnostic accuracy and improves patient outcomes in acute coronary syndromes and beyond.
