Description
With careful counselling, preparation and post operative care, most pregnant women can safely undergo nonobstetric surgery. Non-Obstetric surgery may be required at any trimester during pregnancy, which carries the unique challenge of caring simultaneously for two patients. Understanding the physiological changes in pregnancy enables safe delivery of anesthesia. Non elective surgery should never be denied to pregnant patients, although postponding elective cases until 6weeks postpartum is recommended. This video explains in detail about incidence, fetal and maternal concerns, guidelines and anesthesia management of a patient undergoing surgery during pregnancy.
