CPAP For Treatment of OSA

Overview
Description
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is the first-line treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). It delivers a constant stream of pressurized air through a mask to keep the upper airway open during sleep, preventing apneas and hypopneas. CPAP improves daytime alertness, blood pressure, cardiovascular outcomes, and overall quality of life. Adherence is critical for effectiveness; common barriers include discomfort, nasal congestion, or mask issues. Patient education, mask fitting, and humidification can enhance compliance. Regular follow-up ensures optimal therapeutic benefit.
