Overview
Description
Malnutrition is associated with increased post-discharge mortality, hospital readmission and discharge to a care facility. ICU patients with malnutrition who survive to discharge might benefit from a more intense follow-up schedule and enhanced longitudinal care. Specifically, as malnutrition is potentially modifiable, intensive nutrition support over time following hospital discharge may be a strategy to improve adverse outcomes.
