Overview
Description
Neurophysiological monitoring helps to assess the integrity of neural structures and consciousness during surgical procedures. It includes both continuous monitoring of neural tissues as well as the localization of vital neural structures. The purpose of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring is to reduce the risk to the patient of iatrogenic damage to the nervous system and to provide functional guidance to the surgeon and anesthesiologist. This video explains about evaluating the functional integrity of nervous system, modalities of monitoring, motor evoked potentials, visual evoked potentials, anesthetic management for IONM, physiological factors, pitfalls of IONM.
