Description
An inhalational anesthetic is a chemical compound possessing general anesthetic properties that can be delivered via inhalation. These are used for induction and maintainence of general anesthesia in operating rooms. These are administered via facemask, LMA, tracheal tube connected to an anesthetic vaporizer and anesthesia delivery system. The potency of inhaled anesthesia is defined quantitatively as minimum alveolar concentration (MAC). This video describes about the history, mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics of inhalational agents like nitrous oxide, halothane, isoflurane, enflurane, sevoflurane, desflurane and xenon.
