Description
Cardiomyopathy is a primary disorder of the heart muscle that causes abnormal myocardial performance. It can also lead to heart failure. There is no way to prevent congenital types of cardiomyopathies, but there are steps to reduce the risk of conditions that could lead to cardiomyopathy. So, the goal of treatment is to slow down the disease, control symptoms and prevent sudden death. This video describes the definition, types, clinical manifestations, history and physical examination, diagnosis, risk factors, management of cardiomyopathies.
