Description

Plasma proteins, primarily synthesized in the liver, include albumin, globulins, and fibrinogen. Albumin maintains oncotic pressure and transports hormones, drugs, and fatty acids. Globulins are divided into alpha, beta, and gamma types; they function in transport, immunity (antibodies), and enzymatic activity. Fibrinogen is essential for blood clotting. These proteins help buffer pH, maintain blood viscosity, and support immune responses. Alterations in plasma protein levels can indicate liver disease, inflammation, or nutritional deficiencies, reflecting their critical role in homeostasis and defense.
