Description
Managing patients with adult congenital heart disease(ACHD) is an increasing challenge as more patients are surving to adulthood are on the rise and each patient has different physiology based upon the underlying corrected or uncorrected congenital heart disease. This increase in adult population with congenital heart disease (CHD) shows that anesthesiologists in the noncardiac speciality in the near future have to take care of these patients who may have previously undergone surgery for even complex congenital heart defects. The risk of noncardiac surgery is mostly influenced by the complexity of the underlying CHD and the extent and urgency of the procedure. The anatomy and physiology of certain CHD are complex and require specific knowledge of the defect and the anesthetic implications vary with each of them. This presentation deals with rsik scoring of ACHD,pathophysiology of individual lesions, surgical procedures and management of long term complications of ACHD.
